Leading travel website Travala.com has announced the addition of Ripple (XRP) as a payment method to its platform.

With over 500,000 properties listed on its books in over 200 countries, Travala is often referred to as the AirBnB of the blockchain, having been the first among its peers to embrace the emerging crypto-economy.

The Ripple announcement was subsequently followed by a similar announcement a few hours later in which the Travala team also gave notice of its intention to include DASH as yet another cryptocurrency payment method to be incorporated into its website, taking the total number of crypto-currencies that it supports to ten.

Rare Successful Blockchain Rebrand

Originally conceived as a standard accommodation booking website, Travala underwent a blockchain rebrand earlier this year, renaming itself from Concierge and subsequently raising $26 million dollars in an ICO based on the NEO blockchain.

Travala is one of only a relatively small number of ICOs to have so far launched a working product that has achieved both a range of business partnerships and an established client-base.

Despite the project’s success, the platform’s native coin (AVA) – which grants access to price reductions in its services – has nonetheless been unable to escape the general crypto bloodletting of 2018. AVA currently trades at $0.13 – 63% down on its ICO main sale issue price of $0.35 in April –  although it has managed to buck the overall market trend in the second half of 2018 as it trades 200% higher than its all-time low of $0.045 on August 14th.
